Plus Size Clothing for Warm, Humid Weather

Plus Size Clothing for Warm, Humid Weather

Heat and humidity calls for clothing made from breathable fabrics. You may have found it hard to find plus size clothing for warm, humid weather but that may be because you’ve been trying to avoid synthetic fabrics of every kind. But today’s synthetics are so much better than 1970s polyester (or even 1980s or 1990s poly blends). After all, high performance, moisture wicking sportswear is made from synthetic materials. And spandex is wonderful for helping garments maintain their shape.

Style is also important for staying comfortable in the summer months (or during hot flashes). You want a relaxed fit so that air can circulate around your body. But you don’t want anything too baggy because that just means you’ll be smothered in too much fabric.

Tops Red Cotton Tank

Staying cool doesn’t mean that you absolutely must show more skin than you do in cooler months. The clothes I’m going to talk about range from casual to dressy with plenty of office appropriate pieces.

Casual Wear For Warm, Humid Weather

Our new Casual Lifestyle section features 100% cotton tanks and tees. Some have cute designs that are just perfect for the weekend. Others reflect our signature versatile aesthetic (in other words, they’re solid colors that can be dressed up or down). Our Angel Pocket Pants are made from a blend of modal and tencel that breathes wonderfully.

For a sportier look, you can go with Brecken Outdoor Pants. They’re made with a quick-dry poly/spandex blend. Sure they’re ideal for hiking, but they’re also great for running errands.

Dressy Clothing For Warm, Humid Weather

The clothes that have seen me through brutal summers and years of hot flashes are all made from Vikki Vi’s signature jersey knit. It’s light as a whisper, doesn’t wrinkle, and comes in loads of colors and prints. Despite the lack of heft, this jersey drapes as beautifully as heavier fabrics. Let’s get specific.

If I were building a work-appropriate warm weather wardrobe from scratch, I’d start with Crop Pants, Wide Leg Pants, and Sleeveless Shells. A few 3/4 Sleeve Kimono Jackets would let me create lots of looks. I’d snap up some T-Shirt Style Dresses and add in some short sleeve dresses from JoStar for variety.

Many of us find Vikki Vi’s Classic Slinky fabric to be a bit heavy for hot weather. (Others can’t really tell the difference between our various fabrics, so your mileage will vary.) Our Silky Classics land between Classic and Classic Jersey as far as weight is concerned. That makes them appropriate for warm weather.

Caftans For Warm, Humid Weather

I just love how glamorous caftans look. The fabric drapes so elegantly - which means lots of style and air flow. It’s no wonder that caftans are a hot weather classic.

We have a few Ralmtex caftans in stock. They’re made from some of that fancy sports fabric that keeps your body temperature comfortable. Heat, humidity, and night sweats are no match for this fabric. I have one and can’t recommend it enough.

Stay Cool And Fabulous

A lot of the time, when we think about dressing for warm, humid weather we’re only focusing on staying cool. But it’s absolutely possible to look great while we’re at it.
