Make Your Plus Size Wardrobe Exciting
Posted by Jen Anderson on

It sounds unthinkable, right? For so long, plus size clothes were...not great. We had to settle with what we were given. Developing our own sense of style was out of the question. Now that we have options and we're able to get dressed without the crushing weight of existential despair, I think we can go even farther.
It's so easy to fall into a fashion rut - especially if you follow my excellent advice about finding styles that work with your individual body. You can end up with a closet full of the same piece in different colors. But that doesn't have to be boring.

Mix and Match
The easiest way to have fun with your clothes is to wear them in different combinations. The classic Vikki Vi combo is Pull On Pants, Sleeveless Shell, and Kimono Jacket. They can all be the same color, but they don't have to be. How about matching pants and jacket with a complimentary shell? Or matching pants and shell with a non-matching jacket?
You can come up with loads of outfits this way. In fact, there are several apps that let you manage your wardrobe, record your outfits, and identify the pieces you haven't worn in a while. You could use one of those or create a spreadsheet if that's your thing. Or just get creative when you plan your outfits for the week.

Include Different Vibes
I've confessed before that I own something like a dozen T-Shirt Style Dresses. I keep them all in heavy rotation, yet I don't get bored. That's because I have them in a variety of fabrics, colors, and prints. Some of the prints are subdued and office appropriate. Others are bright and bold. The brushed jersey has a more casual feel than the regular jersey, while classic slinky is dressier.
The variety isn't just fun - it adds some important versatility. I have a T-Shirt Style Dress for every occasion.

Mix Brands and Price Points
I once paired a high-fashion linen jacket with an old denim skirt and a tee from some random brand. The jacket's extremely puffy sleeves would've been ridiculous with something equally luxe. But the cheap pieces grounded the look.
We offer a few select brands besides Vikki Vi. And you could easily wear them with Vikki Vi pieces. A jacket from Citron, or sheer topper from Sterling would go wonderfully with Vikki Vi Classics. A top from Kiyonna would go nicely with pants from Vikki Vi.

Wear Your Special Occasion Clothes Any Time
It's important to have at least one special occasion outfit in your arsenal, but you can wear those pieces any time. Sparkles and sequins may be unexpected, but somehow they're always appropriate. A colorful sheer topper is just the thing for a casual video chat.
I know it's common to go to fancy restaurants in shorts and golf shirts, but there's no reason you can't go dressed to the nines.
Have Fun
Back before plus size clothes became plentiful, shopping and getting dressed was just a matter of survival. But now we get to enjoy our clothing. Approach your closet in a spirit of fun, and your clothes will never seem boring again.
