Best Plus Size Travel Outfits for 2025

Travel is stressful. There’s no way around it. Wearing a great travel outfit can make it less stressful. Yet they tend to be an afterthought. We put plenty of energy into planning what we’re going to wear on a trip, but our travel outfits are less of a priority than they should be.

Why do travel outfits matter?

It comes down to comfort - which doesn’t only include physical comfort. To be truly comfortable, you need to feel like you’re dressed appropriately for the occasion. When you feel like you truly belong - well, that’s the comfortable confidence we talk about around here.

Selecting the right travel outfit is about dressing nicely but comfortably. Sitting on an airplane or in a car or train for hours isn’t the time for too-tight shapewear or constricting waistbands. A lot of people go way too far in the other direction and travel in track suits or even pajamas. Which, OK I guess. Those aren’t ever a good choice for plus size women - we’re held to a higher standard than our thinner sisters so we need to avoid wearing anything sloppy. Not if we want to be treated with respect and consideration.

(Yes, this is completely unfair but people can be the absolute worst and nice clothing can defend against that.)

What makes the best plus size travel outfits?

Vikki Vi Classics are extremely popular travel clothes because they look polished even though they’re super comfy. It comes down to the elastic waistbands. They feel comfortable but unlike others, Vikki Vi elastic waistbands look…not like what you picture when you think of elastic waistbands. You could tuck in your top and you’d look perfectly fine.

The knit fabric stretches and moves with you, which adds to the comfort. And Vikki Vi Classics and Jersey Classics don’t wrinkle, which means you’ll arrive looking as fresh as when you set off.

The not wrinkling thing also means that you don’t have to think twice about putting a Kimono Jacket in your carry on bag. If you’re checking luggage, you may want to put an entire outfit or two in your carry-on bag just in case your luggage doesn’t arrive when you do.

Let’s get specific

There's still a lot of variety within these parameters.

Tunics

The leggings with a roomy top is a classic look for travel. Our rendition is a polished version of this typical outfit because the fabric doesn't pill or sag. We have a variety of 2 Pocket Swing Tunics and Handkerchief Hem Tunics that are fantastic for travel.  Wear then with Pull On Pants or Slim Leg Pants.

This isn't really the right look for business travel (depending on your company's dress code). But for recreational travel, it's perfect.

Wide Leg Pants

Personally, I absolutely adore wide leg pants. They have a relaxed glamour that works well for business travel or vacations. They're effortlessly stylish - which is exactly what you want when traveling. Pair them with a closer fitting top like a Sleeveless Shell or 3/4 Sleeve Top.

Wide Leg Pants are an excellent option for business travel, especially when paired with a blazer.

Not Just For Travel

These outfits aren't only appropriate for traveling - which is what makes them great plus size travel wear. Even if you only travel once a year or so, these outfits make you look and feel like a seasoned traveler, completely at ease everywhere you go.
